Clubs And Societies at CGS

Clubs and Societies played a large part in school life. The School’s move to Tile Cross, under the flight path to nearby Birmingham Airport, generated a lot of interest in Aviation the early 70s, so a club was formed by students who wanted to get more from their hobby – Plane Spotting!!

There were clubs for Science, Maths, Transport, Boats, Chess…. all enthusiastically supported by pupils and Teachers alike.

Some of the clubs went back to the earliest days of the school and were still running at the time of the amalgamation with Byng Kenrick Girls School. Others were only around for a much shorter time – generally due to changes to what was “fashionable” at the time.
