Bryntail Cottage Charitable Trust
After much form filling the Bryntail Cottage Charitable Trust is now officially registered with, and recognised by the Charity Commissioners. The first Trustees Meeting was held (via Zoom) during the first week of July 2020.
Neil Mackintosh, Head of Social Mobility at Tile Cross Academy, will Chair the Trust.
The other Trustees are: –
- Paul Marano – Head of Tile Cross Academy
- Chris Etheridge – Former Head of Tile Cross Academy, now Head of King’s Heath Boys School
- Andy Hiorns – Former Byng Kenrick Central Pupil, now Town Planning Consultant
- Adrian Murphy – Former Byng Kenrick Central Pupil, now a Company Director
- Richard Fryer – Old Central and Bryntail Stalwart, Retired Head Teacher
It was agreed the way forward was to develop the cottage as hostel accommodation for small group use (two mini buses of students and staff plus luggage) and making it available for use by all age ranges in the Academy group and also to the wider Community including the local Llanidloes area.
The money in the “Bryntail Fund” will be transferred into a new Trust Account. Adrian Murphy offered to act as Treasurer. There are immediate concerns to be dealt with to comply with Severn Trent’s terms on the lease and quotes are being sought for water and electrical work.
Thanks are due to Paul Telfer who produced several designs for a logo for the new era.
None of us underestimate the size of the task ahead, but the mood of the meeting was positive, and the background information needed for bidding for funding is prepared. If we can meet in September (Welsh Government rules allowing), We will keep you updated on progress with regular posts and answer your many questions. We might even have the hedge cut!
